Montague North Portal Structures

Shop detail, fabricate, deliver and erect the main Portal structures for the Montague North and South ramp interchanges.  GFab were also responsible for the installation of the Alucabond cladding system to the structural steel frames.

The Portal Arches were made up of prefabricated modules, which were assembled and clad in our workshop.  The platforms and railing were installed then delivered and erected on-site by our on-site personnel.  Approximately five modules were assembled per Portal Structure and transported after hours with wide extended loads to the work site.  Finishing of gaps on the cladding system were carried out on-site.

   

 

530 Collins Street Melbourne

530 Collins Street is the home of the new Stock Exchange.  It consisted of a Main Tower of approximately 40 storey with an adjacent podium of 14 storey which enclosed the Atrium.

Melbourne Show Grounds - Grand Pavilion

Supply, fabrication and painting of the main support towers, platforms and roof supports.  Work was completed with a three-coat paint system.

The Royal Melbourne Showground’s Grand Pavilion, one of the largest tent like structures in the Southern Hemisphere, has now become a landmark feature of Melbourne’s skyline. The 8,000 square-metre Grand Pavilion is a central feature of the newly redeveloped Melbourne Showgrounds.

This iconic lightweight high tensile membrane structure suspending between six central masts, has base perimeter walls which are self supporting and consist of a lightweight modular cladding system supported by a steel frame. The building has sections of glazing throughout the facade from all elevations.

Conveyor System: Midway Wood Chips

  • Principal: Midway Wood Products
  • Builder: EMT Tasmania
  • Contact Value: $1.1 million

Supply, fabrication, painting and installation of three conveyor systems for transferring wood chips at the Geelong facility. Our scope of work included the complete installation and commissioning ofthe conveyors.

 

 

Vortex Centre

Principal: Gippsland Water Factory Alliance

Supply, shop detail, fabricate and erect the structural steelwork to the Vortex Centre for the Gippsland Water Factory Alliance.

This building had to have a very extensive paint system applied due to the extremely aggressive nature of the environment.  The building had an artificial moat built around it as a high tech method of cooling and heating.  This entailed a continious stream of water flowing over the building acting as a heat exchanger; hence corrosion protection was of highest priority.

Station Pier Glass Covered Gangways

  • Builder: Thorn Airport Lighting
  • Contact Value: $800k

Detail, supply, fabrication. fit-out, surface coatings, glass and delivery of gangways.

Two gangways were constructed of different configurations.  They are to be utilised for the loading and unloading of passengers to and from luxury liners that dock at Station Pier.

Our contract consisted of the complete fit-out and painting.  The client completed electrics, wheels and hydraulics.


Transport Accident Commission Head Office

  • Principal: TAC (Transport Accident Commission)
  • Builder: Hickory Developments Pty Ltd
  • Contact Value: $1.3 million

Supply, delivery and erection of the Structural and Architectural Steelwork for the new TAC corporate head office.

The project consisted of the main roof steel, Atrium steelwork, level 7 and lower level canopies, internal and external stairs and veranda sunshade supports.

A distinctive feature of this building was the detailed structure and unique shape of the Atrium.
