Principal: Melbourne City Council Builders: Leighton Contractors Contract Value: $1.9m
Description: The MCG Footbridge was the link over the railway lines between the MCG Football stadium and Flinders Park Tennis precinct for pedestrian use.
The main bridge spans made up fully wielded pipe sections. Pipe wraps were produced to enable all pipe node connections. Due to the bridge being erected over a fully operational railway network great care had to be taken to ensure correct fit-up of fabricated components onsite.
A 3-coat paint system was used to ensure a high degree of protection. Perforated metal sheets and architectural handrails consisting of pipe railing were also supplied and installed.
